After a promising start, Lorenzo Musetti\u2019s season of pain continues.<\/p>\n

World No. 15 Musetti officially withdrew from Wimbledon today as he continues recovery from a left thigh injury that forced him out of Roland Garros.<\/p>\n

The 2024 Wimbledon semifinalist Musetti was hobbling visibly in the second set of his 6-3, 6-1 Rome round of 16 loss to Casper Ruud last month. Musetti has not played a match since that defeat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to update you on my recovery from the injury I sustained in Rome: rehabilitation is going very well and the medical results are encouraging,\u201d Musetti posted on Instagram. \u201cUnfortunately, as I have not yet been able to begin a full athletic training program, and after careful evaluation, we have come to the difficult conclusion that I will not be able to participate in Wimbledon this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not an easy decision, but it is the right one. My priority is to return to the court at 100%.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2025 Roland Garros semifinalist Musetti joins two-time Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz, who is recovering from a right wrist issue, in withdrawing from Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

Musetti started the season on a 7-1 tear reaching the Hong Kong final and Australian Open quarterfinal where he led Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-3, 1-3 when he was forced to retire due to injury.
