The Williams sisters<\/a> remain formidable challengers at Wimbledon, even with a collective age of 90. Having already secured 21 combined titles on the historic grass courts of the All England Club across their singles and doubles play, Serena, 41, and Venus, 46, are now pursuing yet another championship.<\/p>\n

Wimbledon, which begins in less than two weeks, announced on June 16 that the sisters would receive an invitation to a doubles wild card, according to the Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBack together, at Wimbledon,\u201d the tournament page wrote on Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

After a nearly four-year break, Serena just started playing tennis professionally again. Essence <\/a>reports that the comeback got off to a good start because the tennis legend, partnered with world No. 9 Victoria Mboko<\/a>, defeated third seeds Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe 7-6, 6-2 in their first match.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Mboko\u2019s knee injury during a singles match forced the doubles team to withdraw, ending their winning run. Williams is off to a good start, though.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s going to be fun. My daughter, Olympia, told me I should play with Venus. She\u2019s always right,\u201d Serena said after losing a doubles match<\/a> with another partner, Karolina Muchova, in Berlin on June 16.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I said, \u201cOK Olympia, we\u2019ll see if we can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Venus, who continues to compete occasionally, turned 46 on June 17.<\/p>\n

Over their illustrious careers, the legendary pair has amassed an incredible 14 Grand Slam<\/a> doubles titles. They have won six grass-court championships, starting with their first in 2000 and ending with their most recent victory in 2016.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their dominance at the All England Club is especially remarkable. Notably, they entered the tournament as wild cards and won their first two Wimbledon titles in 2000 and 2002.<\/p>\n

Their combined accomplishments at the All England Club are nothing short of legendary. Serena has won seven Wimbledon singles titles, while Venus has won five. <\/p>\n

Serena won a gold medal in singles at the 2012 London Olympics<\/a>, while both sisters shared gold in doubles.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Serena continued her return to the sport on Tuesday as she competed in the women\u2019s doubles at the Berlin Open alongside Karolina Muchova.<\/p>\n

After the match at Queen\u2019s Club in west London, Williams said she was taking things \u201ca day at a time\u201d but said she enjoyed the winning return to competitive action.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know. I had nothing better to do. I got tired of sitting at home. My kids are out of school for the summer, so why not?\u201d Williams said. \u201cI never got to play here; it was always just the men. It feels really special to play somewhere so iconic.\u201d<\/p>\n
