It appears the trade market is heating up for Buffalo Sabres<\/a> defenceman Bowen Byram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports \u201cmultiple teams\u201d are exploring a trade with the Sabres for the 25-year-old blueliner. <\/p>\n

Dreger adds that Bryram\u2019s agent, Darren Ferris,\u00a0has a history of marching his clients to unrestricted free agency, which is motivating the Sabres towards a trade with one year left on his contract at a cap hit of $6.25 million.<\/p>\n

Byram posted 11 goals and 42 points in 82 games with the Sabres this past season, adding four goals and seven points in 13 playoff games.<\/p>\n

He was acquired by the club at the trade deadline in 2024, sending Casey Mittelstadt<\/a> back to the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in a one-for-one deal. <\/p>\n

Byram was selected fourth overall by the Avalanche in the 2019 draft. He has 44 goals and 152 points in 328 career games with the Sabres and Avalanche.<\/p>\n

The Sabres enter the off-season after ending their 14-year playoff drought this spring. The team was eventually eliminated in Game 7 of their second-round series with the Montreal Canadiens<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Changes, though, appear to be on the way in Buffalo with Byram potentially now on the way out in addition to pending unrestricted free agent Alex Tuch<\/a>, who has yet to sign an extension with the team.<\/p>\n

Buffalo has a projected $11.95 million in cap space this off-season with 22 players currently under contract for next season, per PuckPedia. Trade-deadline additions Luke Schenn<\/a> and Logan Stanley<\/a> are also among the team\u2019s pending UFAs, while Peyton Krebs<\/a> and Zach Benson<\/a> are in need of new deals as restricted free agents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It appears the trade market is heating up for Buffalo Sabres defenceman Bowen Byram.
