{"id":745763,"date":"2026-06-18T20:50:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T20:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/745763\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T20:50:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T20:50:30","slug":"prowling-cats-pink-dolphins-and-giant-eagles-16-incredible-photos-from-the-amazon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/745763\/","title":{"rendered":"Prowling cats, pink dolphins and giant eagles: 16 incredible photos from the Amazon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spanning the Amazon River basin of South America, the Amazon rainforest is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth, estimated to host at least 10 per cent of all the world\u2019s known plants and animals. <\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwf.org.br\/?60382%2FWWF-Brasil-lana-relatrio-com-descoberta-de-381-novas-espcies-na-Amaznia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">study from 2015<\/a>, a new species of plant or animal is discovered in the Amazon every two days \u2013 but many of the existing species face extinction through the impact of deforestation across the region.<\/p>\n<p>This vast area of tropical rainforest covers over 40 per cent of the landmass of South America, mostly in Brazil, followed by Peru and Colombia.
