{"id":74579,"date":"2025-08-16T17:41:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-16T17:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/74579\/"},"modified":"2025-08-16T17:41:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-16T17:41:08","slug":"terence-atmane-makes-bold-statement-about-jannik-sinner-ahead-of-their-cincinnati-open-semifinal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/74579\/","title":{"rendered":"Terence Atmane makes bold statement about Jannik Sinner ahead of their Cincinnati Open semifinal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Terence Atmane has been the story of the Cincinnati Open so far, having delivered multiple shocking results en route to a maiden ATP Masters 1000 semifinal.<\/p>\n<p>After reaching the main draw through qualifying, the Frenchman earned victories over Wimbledon quarterfinalist Flavio Cobolli and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/Joao-Fonseca\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joao Fonseca<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Then, in one of the biggest upsets of the season, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/terence-atmane-admits-he-made-a-mistake-the-last-time-he-played-taylor-fritz-which-he-tried-to-correct-in-cincinnati\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Atmane defeated Taylor Fritz<\/a> in three sets before besting seventh seed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/holger-rune\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Holger Rune<\/a> in the last eight. <\/p>\n<p>Ranked 136th before the tournament started, he will now face the world number one, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jannik Sinner<\/a>, who he had very high praise for ahead of their clash.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"819\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2229371690-1024x819.jpg\" alt=\"Terence Atmane celebrates at the Cincinnati Open\" class=\"wp-image-120868\" \/>Photo by Shelley Lipton\/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesTerence Atmane gives his verdict on Jannik Sinner<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Tennis Channel after his win over Rune, Atmane said of Sinner: \u201cI don\u2019t want to predict anything because Jannik is, I think, the most incredible player that we have pretty much ever seen in our entire lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it\u2019s going to be very interesting to also be able to play someone like him, to play someone that is bringing so many crazy things to the tennis world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it\u2019s going to be very interesting. It\u2019s going to be a new challenge for me. I will just still try to do my things once again. It doesn\u2019t matter the ranking, you know?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a very good one.
