Created by Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer, the film stars Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd, Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki and received strong reviews and a standing ovation at its Sundance premiere.<\/p>\n<p>Per the official description, \u201cWicker\u201d is \u201can audacious comedic fable about sex, marriage, and the absurdities of social convention. \u2018Wicker\u2019 tells the wholly original love story of an ostracized fisherwoman (Colman) who commissions a husband to be made by the local basketmaker (Dinklage). When her wicker husband (Skarsg\u00e5rd) proves more spectacular than she ever imagined, his soulful spirit and unique prowess awaken something inside her, setting off a wave of jealousy, fascination, and upheaval that threatens the very fabric of village life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film is adapted from Ursula Wills\u2019 short story \u201cThe Wicker Husband,\u201d and features cinematography by Lol Crawley (\u201cThe Brutalist\u201d), production design by Ren\u00e1t\u00f3 Cseh (\u201cPoor Things\u201d), costumes by Andr\u00e1s D\u00e1niel T\u00f3th and Attila Godena-Juh\u00e1sz, a score by Anna Meredith (\u201cEighth Grade\u201d) and work from the design shop, W\u0113t\u0101 Workshop (\u201cAvatar,\u201d \u201cThe Lord of The Rings\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Wicker\u2019 is just the kind of film we\u2019re passionate about championing at Black Bear,\u201d said Benjamin Kramer, President of U.S. Distribution. \u201cIt\u2019s bold, entertaining, and totally unlike anything else, as its early fans at Sundance have seen. Supporting visionary filmmakers is at the core of what we do, and we look forward to bringing this unique story to audiences in theaters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film was financed by Tango and Topic Studios with Tim Headington, Lia Buman, Ryan Heller and Michael Bloom producing alongside South of The River\u2019s Colman, Ed Sinclair, and Tom Carver; Yoki, Inc\u2019s David Mich\u00f4d and Brad Zimmerman; and Justin Lothrop and Brent Stiefel for Votiv, who originated and financed development, as well as Andrea Cornwell and Oliver Kassman.
