\n\tFamke Janssen said during a recent conversation with Nerdtropolis<\/a> at Spacecon 2026 that Marvel<\/a> \u201cmade a mistake\u201d by not bringing her back as Jean Grey for December\u2019s \u201cAvengers: Doomsday.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI am so bad at keeping secrets that I always say to everyone I\u2019m the worst actor in the world. It\u2019s all on my face. You right away will read it,\u201d Janssen said. \u201cI think they made a mistake, but hey, who am I? I\u2019m just a little me who thinks that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJanssen first appeared as the telepath Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, in 2000\u2019s \u201cX-Men,\u201d and then reprised the role for 2003\u2019s \u201cX2: X-Men United\u201d and 2006\u2019s \u201cX-Men: The Last Stand.\u201d She also briefly appeared as Grey in 2013\u2019s \u201cThe Wolverine\u201d and 2014\u2019s \u201cX-Men: Days of Future Past.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJanssen\u2019s absence from \u201cDoomsday\u201d is notable, considering Marvel is bringing back many of her \u201cX-Men\u201d co-stars for the film. Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) are all set to return.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an October 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Janssen said in every interview she does, she\u2019s asked about the future of Jean Grey in the MCU.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s interesting,\u201d Janssen said<\/a>. \u201cI didn\u2019t realize that was such a big part. Every interview I do, that will come up, and of everything I say, that is going to be the only thing that\u2019s gonna be printed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI should be flattered, I suppose, that this character has resonated with people,\u201d she added. \u201cIt\u2019s been so long, but it\u2019s nice that people are still talking about her.
