Already letting loose at his team’s Stanley Cup parade, Nicolas Deslauriers<\/a> was given another reason to get festive. <\/p>\n

The Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> signed the winger to a two-year, $1.75 million extension worth $875,000 in average annual value, the team announced<\/a> Saturday.<\/p>\n

While the numbers were likely hammered out before the parade, Deslauriers put pen to paper on the deal while at the podium<\/a> in Raleigh.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes acquired Deslauriers from the Philadelphia Flyers at the March 6 trade deadline for a 2027 seventh-round pick.<\/p>\n

\u201cNic has fit in with our locker room and culture from Day 1 when he got to Raleigh,\u201d\u00a0general manager Eric Tulsky said in a statement.\u00a0\u201cHe provides a veteran presence and adds a physical element to our roster.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though he only made seven regular-season and one post-season appearance \u2014 finishing with one assist total \u2014 the 35-year-old brought grit to the Hurricanes’ lineup, picking up 39 hits over his eight games. <\/p>\n

His lone playoff game came in the first round against the Ottawa Senators, where he suited up for only 3:09 of ice time as the Hurricanes completed the four-game sweep.<\/p>\n
