Connor Murphy<\/a>\u2019s time with the Edmonton Oilers<\/a> will continue.<\/p>\n

TSN\u2019s Ryan Rishaug reports the team is extending the defenceman on a five-year, $20.4 million deal, carrying a cap hit of $4.1 million.<\/p>\n

The signing comes one day after the Oilers signed forward Jason Dickinson<\/a> to a five-year, $20 million deal. Both Dickinson and Murphy were acquired in separate trades from the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> ahead of the trade deadline in March. <\/p>\n

Murphy, 33, was acquired for 2028 second-round draft pick, while Dickinson was brought in along with forward\u00a0Colton Dach<\/a>, in exchange for forward\u00a0Andrew Mangiapane<\/a>\u00a0and a conditional first-round draft pick in 2027.<\/p>\n

Murphy had five goals and 17 points in 80 games split between the Blackhawks and Oilers. He added two goals and three points in six playoff games while averaging 21:17 of ice time as the Oilers fell in the first round.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-4, right-shot defenceman is coming off a four-year, $17.6 million contract that carries a cap hit of $4.4 million. <\/p>\n

Drafted 20th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2011, Murphy has 48 goals and 177 points in 825 career games split between the Coyotes, Blackhawks, and Oilers.<\/p>\n

The Dublin, Ohio native has represented the United States five times at the World Championship, taking home bronze medals in 2015 and 2018.<\/p>\n

Dickinson had seven goals and 17 points in 64 games split between the Blackhawks and Oilers last season.<\/p>\n
