\n\tA brain, a jock, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal return to theaters in September when the John Hughes<\/a> classic, The Breakfast Club, celebrates its 40th anniversary with a rerelease.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 1985 blockbuster about a group of suburban Chicago high school misfits who are forced to spend detention together is being rereleased by Universal Pictures. It will hit theaters nationwide on Sept. 7 and Sept. 10, as The Hollywood Reporter <\/a>reports<\/a>. Advanced tickets go on sale Saturday, Aug. 16.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Breakfast Club stars Molly Ringwald (Claire, the princess), Emilio Estevez (Andrew, the athlete), Judd Nelson (John, the criminal), Ally Sheedy (Allison, the basket case), and Anthony Michael Hall (Brian, the brain). The film, which showcased different teen archetypes who have more in common than what the societal pecking order dictates, resonated, and it helped launch the ensemble cast\u2019s careers while ushering in the so-called Brat Pack<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this year, all five of the castmates reunited publicly for the first time since the film\u2019s 1985 release to discuss the movie\u2019s 40th anniversary at the C2E2 convention in Chicago.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI feel really very emotional and moved to have us all together,\u201d Ringwald said at the event,\u00a0via THR. While four of the stars had previously reunited, the C2E2 event was the first time Estevez joined them. \u201cWe don\u2019t have to use the cardboard cutout anymore because he\u2019s here. I feel really moved that we\u2019re all together,\u201d Ringwald added.<\/p>\n

\n\tEstevez said he joined them because it \u201cwas something that finally I felt I needed to do just for myself. This one felt special, it\u2019s here in Chicago where we made the film. It\u2019s obviously the 40th anniversary, and it just felt like it was time. Somebody told me that Molly said, \u2018Well, does Emilio just not like us?\u2019 And that broke my heart. And I went, \u2018No of course I love all of them.\u2019 And that just made sense, so here I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film marked its 30th anniversary in 2015 with a new Blu-Ray edition as well as a two-day theatrical release.
