The City of Mississauga is reviewing and updating its urban design program. This work will help ensure that the program reflects the needs of those who plan,\u00a0design\u00a0and build our city, as well as\u00a0the people who call it home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a0City\u00a0is working to\u00a0create\u00a0vibrant, well-designed communities\u00a0while\u00a0making\u00a0it easier to build more housing\u00a0and\u00a0improve affordability. How does urban design affect you?\u00a0<\/p>\n
Think about a building that stood out\u00a0or how walkable your neighbourhood is \u2013 that is urban design in action. It\u00a0shapes how we live,\u00a0from\u00a0our buildings\u00a0and streets to the parks and public spaces in between. Whether\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0getting around in the city,\u00a0spending time at\u00a0a park or\u00a0enjoying an outdoor event,\u00a0urban design\u00a0shapes the everyday experience of life in Mississauga.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mississauga has a variety of\u00a0urban design guidelines<\/a> that help shape the way\u00a0our city is designed and built. The Urban Design program review is looking at how we can improve the\u00a0program\u00a0so that it\u00a0meets\u00a0with the needs of residents today and\u00a0into the future.<\/p>\n During the first phase of the Urban Design Program review,\u00a0we\u00a0want\u00a0to\u00a0understand what\u00a0matters most to you.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0why\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0launched a virtual, on-demand engagement to gather your feedback. The review supports recommendations from the\u00a0Mayor\u2019s Housing Taskforce<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0will align\u00a0with the City\u2019s new\u00a0Mississauga Official Plan 2051<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The\u00a0City\u00a0celebrates excellent urban design through the Mississauga Urban Design Awards.
