{"id":75673,"date":"2025-08-17T05:28:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-17T05:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/75673\/"},"modified":"2025-08-17T05:28:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-17T05:28:09","slug":"1-dead-in-macleod-trail-pedestrian-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/75673\/","title":{"rendered":"1 dead in Macleod Trail pedestrian incident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Calgary police say a pedestrian<a href=\"https:\/\/calgary.citynews.ca\/2025\/08\/15\/macleod-trail-crash-pedestrian-south-calgary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"> struck by a vehicle on Macleod Trail<\/a> in the city\u2019s southeast on Friday is dead.<\/p>\n<p>It happened at around 9:45 p.m., 500 metres north of Stony Trail and Macleod Trail SE.<\/p>\n<p>Officers believe a 2004 Honda Civic was travelling northbound on Macleod Trail when it struck a pedestrian walking eastbound across the highway, who later died on the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The driver remained and wasn\u2019t injured.<\/p>\n<p>While speed, alcohol, and drugs aren\u2019t being considered factors for the driver, investigators say the latter two are being considered factors on the part of the pedestrian.<\/p>\n<p>Northbound Macleod Trail was closed between Stoney Trail and 162 Avenue SW for the investigation.
