{"id":756776,"date":"2026-06-23T22:37:25","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T22:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/756776\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T22:37:25","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T22:37:25","slug":"nz-muscle-pulls-protein-and-creatine-supplements-after-review-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/756776\/","title":{"rendered":"NZ Muscle pulls protein and creatine supplements after review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A major New Zealand supplement retailer has removed products from sale and apologised to customers after labelling and packing issues were identified.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>NZ Muscle told the Herald an internal review found several whey protein and creatine products had \u201cnon-compliant packing\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The affected products included No Brand Isolate, No Brand Whey Plus, No Brand creatine products, NZ Muscle Creatine and Shotgun Creatine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company said affected creatine products had been removed from its online and retail shops.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The review also found two protein products, No Brand Whey Plus and No Brand Isolate, had been \u201crelabelled inappropriately\u201d, and were also removed from sale.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNZ Muscle apologises for these issues and invites affected customers to request refunds directly.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s statement followed a YouTube video that raised concerns about the company\u2019s packing, labelling and regulatory compliance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand Food Safety acting deputy director-general Mike Inglis said the agency was aware of the claims and \u201cexamining the evidence\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there was any breach of food safety regulations or risk to consumers we would take appropriate action,\u201d Inglis said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Commerce Commission was assessing whether it would undertake an investigation into the company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Simon Pope, head of fair trading and product safety investigations, said it had received 26 concerns about NZ Muscle between November 2016 and the publication of the YouTube video.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis includes the 2021 concern publicised in the video.
