<\/p>\nErrol Spence isn\u2019t the same fighter who last stepped into a boxing ring three years ago.<\/p>\n
According to trainer Ronnie Shields, that\u2019s exactly why Tim Tszyu \u2013 and Aussie fight fans \u2013 should be worried.<\/p>\n
As questions continue over whether Spence can return to the top level after his loss to Terence Crawford and a lengthy layoff, Shields insists the version preparing for Sydney next month is better than ever. <\/p>\n

So much better than he ever was.<\/p>\n \u201cHis body is well-rested. He feels really good. Everything is going great.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody thinking he don\u2019t have anything left… Just wait.\u201d<\/p>\n The bold statement comes as boxing fans have been buzzing over a series of recent training clips showing Spence looking sharp and in excellent physical condition ahead of his blockbuster showdown with Australia\u2019s pay-per-view king.<\/p>\n For months, critics have questioned whether \u201cThe Truth\u201d could ever return to his best<\/a> after suffering a brutal ninth-round stoppage loss to Crawford in 2023.<\/p>\n Others pointed to the punishment he has copped throughout his career, as well as the lingering effects of the horrific car accident he survived in 2019.<\/p>\n Shields admitted he initially had his own questions, but says Spence quickly answered them in the gym.<\/p>\n \u201cHe never stopped working,\u201d Shields said.<\/p>\n \u201cOn the first day, I told him I was going to put him through some hard workouts and it wasn\u2019t going to be easy.<\/p>\n \u201cI said, \u2018Six hard rounds, and then I\u2019ll decide whether we continue.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cHe did it. No problem.\u201d<\/p>\n Boxing superstar Errol Spence JrSource: FOX SPORTS<\/p>\n Spence echoed his trainer\u2019s confidence, declaring he feels terrific as preparations ramp up for his Australian return.<\/p>\n \u201cCamp has been great,\u201d he told Fight Hub TV.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t complain at all.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m putting in the work, leaving no stone unturned.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m excited.\u201d<\/p>\n There was also a light-hearted moment during the interview when Spence\u2019s stablemate, Jermall Charlo, attempted to introduce him to one of Australia\u2019s most famous culinary exports.<\/p>\n Interrupting the interview, Charlo offered Spence a jar of Vegemite and suggested he give it a whirl.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s from Australia,\u201d grinned Charlo, offering Spence a spoon.<\/p>\n \u201cI tried it.
