<a target=\"_self\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/tag\/tour-de-france\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tour de France<\/a> after failing to recover from the shoulder injury he suffered in his horrific crash at the Tour Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_self\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/tag\/netcompany-ineos\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Netcompany-Ineos<\/a> confirmed Thursday that the 23-year-old Scot remains sidelined with what it described as a \u201csignificant shoulder injury.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Velo reported that <a target=\"_self\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/road\/road-racing\/tour-de-france\/oscar-onley-tree-crash-tour-de-france\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Onley had rejoined teammates<\/a> at an altitude camp in the French Alps in hopes of recovering in time for the July 4 start in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, last year\u2019s fourth-place finisher has run out of time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m gutted not to be able to line up for the Tour de France this year,\u201d Onley said. \u201cMy focus is now on recovering and getting my shoulder in a good place, but I\u2019m really motivated to try and make something out of this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am looking forward to watching the boys racing in France in the coming weeks, especially knowing how hard everyone has worked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Onley crashed on a descent during stage 6 of the Tour Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes and landed in a tree that prevented him from plunging deeper into a ravine.<\/p>\n<p>He climbed back onto his bike and finished the stage before not starting the next day\u2019s stage.<\/p>\n<p>Tour de France selection still up in air<\/p>\n<p>The injury is a major setback for Onley, who emerged as one of the revelations of last year\u2019s Tour with a fourth-place finish overall.<\/p>\n<p>His breakthrough prompted Netcompany-Ineos to buy him out of his contract with Picnic PostNL in <a target=\"_self\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/news\/onley-contract-buyout-most-expensive-cycling-history\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">one of cycling\u2019s biggest recent transfer deals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/netcompanyineos.com\/news\/oscar-onley-medical-update\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">team did not indicate<\/a> who will replace Onley or when he is expected to return to racing.<\/p>\n<p>Onley joins a growing list of big names who will be missing this year\u2019s Tour, including Wout van Aert, Jo\u00e2o Almeida, Ivan Romeo, and Christophe Laporte.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes after <a target=\"_self\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/tag\/kevin-vauquelin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">K\u00e9vin Vauquelin<\/a> will skip this weekend\u2019s French national championships after falling ill with a viral infection.<\/p>\n<p>The move is considered precautionary, and the Frenchman is expected to start the Tour in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>The team\u2019s final Tour roster is expected to be announced
