Ludvig Aberg<\/a>, who was playing in front of him, is a quick player.<\/p>\nScheffler responded by saying: \u201cThey got put on the clock as well today. So I don\u2019t know how quick he was today.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just one of those things where all of a sudden now I\u2019m punished for a rules decision I did not totally agree with, and then I can feel it gusting on 12, I can feel it gusting on 13, and there was nothing I can do about it; you\u2019ve got to get up there and hit the shot.<\/p>\n
\u201cOverall I did what I could to keep us on pace, and hopefully we don\u2019t run into that situation tomorrow.\u201c<\/p>\n
What Scottie Scheffler has said about slow play previously<\/p>\n
Scheffler is fairly quick when he plays golf.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s fairly methodical on the greens but aside from that, he gets on with his job in a pretty brisk manner.<\/p>\n
Back at the US Open in June when rounds were taking nearly six hours to complete, Scheffler offered his take on the situation.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cWhy do you think?<\/p>\n
\u201cIt felt long to me. Both the par-5s we basically walked up on the group in front of us. When it\u2019s up on No. 8 \u2014 you\u2019ve got a drivable par-4 on 17. (The long par-3 eighth hole) is basically a drivable par-4, too. You guys are the ones watching. I\u2019m just trying to play. I\u2019ve got too many concerns other than the pace it takes to get around this place.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing into a golf course like this with this many players and this tough of a golf course, you know it\u2019s going to take a while. Look at the ground we\u2019ve got to cover out there to walk 18 holes. That\u2019s a big piece of property. It just takes time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Scheffler was clearly unhappy with the pace of play at Oakmont, but he understood why it happened.<\/p>\n
