The towering pop idol stopped by NBC<\/a>\u2018s The Tonight Show on Thursday, June 25 for the debut TV performance of his latest tune, \u201cMy Body Isn\u2019t Ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wearing a body-hugging sparkly number, the New York native literally commanded the spotlight with his backing band in support.<\/p>\n

Sombr (real name: Shane Boose) turned to his socials for some insights<\/a> into his new song. \u201cI hope this song can mean different things to different people,\u201d he writes. \u201cIt can be taken as a metaphor. Or it can be taken literally as a description of how I have perceived my own body, for my whole life. I wanted to write about my struggle so that other people who may also be struggling know that they are not alone. You are beautiful, and I love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 20-year-old also hung out for a chat with the show\u2019s host, Jimmy Fallon. Naturally, conversation swiftly turned to his career-affirming moment earlier this month when he inducted Taylor Swift<\/a> into the Songwriters Hall of Fame<\/a>, and performed a pair of her songs on the night. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was crazy,\u201d he recounts. \u201cIt was really her night and she wanted me, out of all the people she could have asked, to perform two songs to help induct her.\u201d Did she choose the songs? Nope. \u201cSo, basically I was like, \u2018Taylor, what songs do you want me to sing? You know, this is your night.\u2019 And she was like, \u2018no. You choose.’\u201d That, he admits, \u201creally put the pressure on.\u201d He took a deep dive, came out with two songs, suggested them to her. Her response was, \u201cperfect.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the night, he performed \u201cDear John\u201d and \u201cCardigan.\u201d Pressure off.<\/p>\n

Swift has the highest of hopes for Sombr, and is almost jealous of his talents. That\u2019s according to TayTay herself. Fallon took a moment to read for his audience some comments from the pop superstar, singing the praises of the precocious artist. \u201cHis writing is so exceptional, that it makes me actually envious. He\u2019s going to be the top of my Spotify Wrapped this year, guaranteed. Sombr is the future.\u201d <\/p>\n
