{"id":762488,"date":"2026-06-26T13:19:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T13:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/762488\/"},"modified":"2026-06-26T13:19:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T13:19:11","slug":"formula-1-news-briatore-hints-alpine-future-with-gasly-colapinto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/762488\/","title":{"rendered":"Formula 1 News: Briatore hints Alpine future with Gasly, Colapinto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Pierre Gasly (pictured) and Franco Colapinto appear increasingly likely to remain Alpine\u2019s race drivers in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Amid speculation linking Fernando Alonso with a sensational return to the Enstone-based team, executive adviser Flavio Briatore indicated ahead of the Austrian GP that he is planning to stick with his current lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Briatore described Gasly as one of the six best drivers on the Formula 1 grid and suggesting a final decision will be made around the summer break.<\/p>\n<p>Related Article:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoracing1.com\/pl\/495658\/formula-1-rumor-alonso-to-close-out-career-at-alpine\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1 Rumor: Alonso to close out career at Alpine<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gasly, who this week finally received the Monaco GP third-place trophy from Isack Hadjar after his successful appeal over the pitlane speeding controversy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fia.com\/news\/f1-2026-austrian-grand-prix-thursday-press-conference-transcript\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">welcomed Briatore\u2019s backing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I am,\u201d Gasly smiled when asked about Briatore\u2019s assessment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s nice to hear it from Flavio, but I\u2019ve been here long enough to know that I\u2019ve got to focus on my own business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI try to be the best I can every single time I\u2019m in the car and sometimes the best I can do is a 15th place last year. It doesn\u2019t mean that I\u2019m a bad driver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, it\u2019s nice from Flavio and we\u2019re working very well together, so I\u2019m happy with the dynamic we have as a team and just want us to be able to perform even better than we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Colapinto, whose time at Alpine has featured both support and criticism from Briatore, also suggested the relationship between the pair remains strong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard a little of what he said,\u201d the Argentine driver said at the Red Bull Ring. \u201cThey were very good comments and it was a very fun interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlavio is very supportive and has been very tough on me at times, but he needed to be tough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also depends on how I handle those moments, and luckily, I handled them very well, improved, and learned from them.
