{"id":762955,"date":"2026-06-26T18:09:22","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T18:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/762955\/"},"modified":"2026-06-26T18:09:22","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T18:09:22","slug":"winnipeg-police-increasing-presence-in-areas-facing-more-drug-use","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/762955\/","title":{"rendered":"Winnipeg police increasing presence in areas facing more drug use"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Winnipeg police say they are dealing with an increased amount of drug use and drug trafficking in public locations.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the increase, police say they\u2019ve also seen an increase in public complaints and concerns regarding public safety.<\/p>\n<p>Police say they are working to target those who are profiting from addiction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we also know enforcement alone is not the solution,\u201d said WPS in a statement. \u201cDespite these efforts, drugs continue to reach our streets, and the impacts are visible. Open drug use is occurring in public spaces and it\u2019s not something our community should have to accept. It affects safety, public health, and quality of life.
