BC Lions practice at Kelowna\u2019s Apple Bowl ahead of Saturday\u2019s game<\/p>\n

The BC Lions were at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna on Friday morning for practice, getting a feeling for their new home away from home as they get set to take on the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday, June 27.<\/p>\n
\u200bLions Head Coach, Buck Pierce, believes the team has a great opportunity to pick up their first win of the season in front of thousands of new fans, who he expects will bring significant energy.<\/p>\n
\u200b\u201cWe\u2019re excited to be here. We are excited to go out and play,\u201d said Pierce. \u201cIt\u2019s really going to be something special that I think a lot of these players are going to remember.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u200bThe Lions have put up two strong offensive efforts to start the season, but are still searching for their first victory. Pierce stressed the team\u2019s need for better execution in reaching the end zone.<\/p>\n
\u200b\u201cOffensively, we have to score. We\u2019re doing a good job of moving the football. We just need to finish,\u201d added Pierce post-practice.<\/p>\n
\u200bOn the defensive side of the ball, the Lions aim to generate more pressure on the opponent\u2019s quarterback while creating scoring opportunities for the offence. Pierce tells Black Press Media it\u2019s been a good practice week in Kelowna.<\/p>\n
\u200bFormer Okanagan Sun linebacker Jacob Bond will be in full gear for the Lions on Saturday, and he\u2019s excited to be back in Kelowna playing at the Apple Bowl.<\/p>\n
\u200b\u201cIt feels great,\u201d said Bond when asked what it felt like to be back in Kelowna. \u201cThis place is going to be rocking. It\u2019s just the craziest I\u2019ve ever seen the Apple Bowl\u2026 I never thought we\u2019d do this. The field looks amazing!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u200bBond added that the team has tightened up in practice and is ready to bring some high-energy football to up to 20,000 fans on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u200b\u201cBolts are going to be flying, for sure. Everybody is ready to go. We\u2019re looking forward to getting our first win, and we\u2019re pumped up for this one,\u201d said Bond.<\/p>\n
\u200bThe BC Lions are encouraging fans to come out and embrace the CFL in Kelowna.<\/p>\n
\u200b\u201cThe fans are going to be real close to the players, and that\u2019s what the CFL is all about. Make sure the fans get down here and check it out. You can expect a lot of enthusiasm,\u201d said Pierce.<\/p>\n
\u200bThe Lions and the Stampeders are both winless through the first two games of the season, but something will have to give on Saturday.<\/p>\n
