Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) boogeyman Khamzat Chimaev captured Middleweight gold at UFC 319<\/a> last night (Sat., Aug. 16, 2025) by completely dominating former 185-pound kingpin Dricus du Plessis, winning via unanimous decision inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois (watch highlights<\/a>).<\/p>\n

In the lead-up to this blockbuster title fight, Chimaev hinted that a victory<\/a> would see him return for UFC 321<\/a> in Abu Dhabi. Now, with the belt in hand, he\u2019s ready to make it happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll see what UFC says,\u201d Chimaev said during the UFC 319 post-fight press conference (watch it here<\/a>). \u201cI\u2019m ready<\/a>. I have no injuries. Thank God.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just had a kid fight on Tuesday, and then come and fight here,\u201d White said. \u201cAbu Dhabi<\/a>? I would definitely consider it\u2026.I\u2019m waiting for Tuesday [to decide matchmaking].\u201d<\/p>\n

Chimaev winning the title and turning around for UFC 321 seems like a long shot<\/a> given his recent inactivity<\/a>, but if \u201cBorz\u201d is truly healthy, he\u2019s the fighter to pull it off\u2014and quiet his doubters.<\/p>\n

The question is: who\u2019s next? The Middleweight division is stacked, with Nassourdine Imavov, Caio Borralho, Anthony Hernandez, and Reinier de Ridder all vying for a shot. It\u2019ll come down to timing and who steps up first.<\/p>\n

That is if Chiamev really goes fight again in two months.<\/p>\n
