Sharon Stone is further explaining why she felt \u201cglee and relief and emptiness\u201d after her maternal grandfather Clarence Lawson\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBasic Instinct\u201d actress detailed the reason behind those feelings \u2014 which she chronicled in her memoir,\u201cThe Beauty of Living Twice\u201d<\/a> \u2014 during her Friday appearance on the \u201cAll There Is with Anderson Cooper\u201d podcast. <\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHe was an abuser who abused my mom and did everything he could possibly do to get near us to be abusive of us,\u201d Stone, 68, told Anderson Cooper, 59.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was an abuser who abused my mom and did everything he could possibly do to get near us to be abusive of us,\u201d Stone (seen above speaking onstage during a screening of \u201cThe Misfits\u201d in May) said. Getty Images for TCM<\/p>\n

Stone continued: \u201cAnd he was not a grandfather, he was a creature that we tried to avoid at all costs.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her book, Stone revealed that she and her younger sister, Kelly, were abused by their grandfather<\/a> \u2014 aided by their grandmother, whom Lawson also abused. She would trap the girls in a room with her husband when they visited, starting when they were just toddlers.<\/p>\n

At Lawson\u2019s funeral, Stone recalled reaching into the casket to make sure he was dead. <\/p>\n

In her memoir, \u201cThe Beauty of Living Twice,\u201d Stone revealed her maternal grandfather, Clarence Lawrence, abused her and her younger sister, Kelly (pictured left of Sharon athe the Lupus LA 2017 Orange Ball) as children. WireImage<\/p>\n

\u201cI poked him, and the bizarre satisfaction that he was at last dead hit me like a ton of ice,\u201d she writes. \u201cI looked at [Kelly] and she understood; she was 11, and it was over.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a very weird thing when you\u2019re a kid and the first experience you have of death is glee and relief and emptiness,\u201d she continues. <\/p>\n

In her Friday interview with Cooper, Stone looked back on the funeral, remembering how it felt colder than most memorial services.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople usually kind of meander in, sit down, talk. There\u2019s usually a gentle, caring, and a hand-holding, and a thoughtfulness at a funeral\u201d Stone said, before clarifying that there was \u201cnone of that\u201d at Lawson\u2019s ceremony.<\/p>\n

But, the feeling of \u201cglee and relief and emptiness\u201d was all she felt. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be a picture in my mind forever of that weird sense of emptiness, good emptiness,\u201d she told Cooper. <\/p>\n
