Surrey council to vote on upgrading 1,003 Cloverdale streetlights with LED technology<\/p>\n

Surrey council will consider awarding contracts on June 29 that if approved will see 1,003 streetlights in Cloverdale upgraded with LED technology from current high-intensity discharge fixtures.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen completed, the LED streetlighting will improve nighttime road safety, and reduce energy and electrical maintenance operating costs. Approximately 12,000 HID fixtures will remain for future upgrading,\u201d Surrey\u2019s manager of engineering explains to council in a coming corporate report. <\/a><\/p>\n Council will vote on authorizing an $183,690 agreement between city hall and the British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority to support the upgrade, buying 1,003 LED streetlight fixtures from LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. to cost $445,000, and awarding a $142,342 contract to Standard Electric BC Ltd.
