If you fancy spending the weekend indoors after the heatwave we’ve just had, then there are plenty of options to whittle the hours away across the streaming services.<\/p>\n

Not only is there so much choice, but so many shows are huge time investments with multiple seasons and spin-offs. What if you just want to watch a story from start to finish in one weekend, but find movies too short for your liking?<\/p>\n

That’s where the limited series, or the one-and-done, comes in. We’ve rounded up nine one season wonders (with a caveat or two) that are well worth checking out.<\/p>\n

Dear England\"joseph<\/p>\n

World Cup fever is in full swing, so why not check out this drama about Gareth Southgate’s time as England’s manager, as he tries to turn both the team’s toxic culture and poor performance around.<\/p>\n

Based on James Graham’s acclaimed stage play of the same name, the four-part series boasts a stacked cast including Joseph Fiennes, Jodie Whittaker, Jason Watkins and John Hodgkinson.<\/p>\n

His & Hers\"jon<\/p>\n

Netflix<\/p>\n

A former news anchor-turned-recluse is drawn back into action when she hears about a murder in her hometown. She clashes with the detective in charge of the case, partly because he doesn’t trust her intentions, and also because they’re an estranged couple!<\/p>\n

Based on Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel of the same name, Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal lead this six-part series, which was helmed by Lady Macbeth and Eileen director William Oldroyd. <\/p>\n

I Will Find You\"britt<\/p>\n

The latest Harlan Coben show, only this time it’s set in America. This one follows a father who is wrongfully imprisoned for murdering his son, and not only does he have to try and clear his name, but find out if his son might actually still be alive.<\/p>\n

The eight-part series features Sam Worthington, Britt Lower, Erin Richards and Milo Ventimiglia in the lead roles, and is the latest collaboration between Netflix and the hugely-popular novelist.<\/p>\n

Mint\"emma<\/p>\n

BBC<\/p>\n

Written and directed by Charlotte Regan (best known for Scrapper), this eight-part series tells a Romeo and Juliet-style story about two individuals from rival crime families who happen to fall in love.<\/p>\n

The Scotland-set drama boasts a stacked cast including Emma Laird, Ben Coyle-Larner, Lewis Gribben, Sam Riley, Laura Fraser and Lindsay Duncan, and has been praised by critics since its release in April.<\/p>\n

Mint is streaming on BBC iPlayer. <\/p>\n

Widow’s Bay\"matthew<\/p>\n

Robert Clark\/Apple TV<\/p>\n

A comedy-horror set in a New England island town that is supposedly cursed. The mayor invites a reporter in the hopes of turning it into a hot tourist destination, but that’s easier said than done when people mysteriously go missing.<\/p>\n

Widow’s Bay stars Matthew Rhys in the central role, and we are admittedly cheating slightly with this suggestion as a second season has already been greenlit. Still, you can watch the first 10 episodes now!<\/p>\n

Gone\"david<\/p>\n

A woman goes missing and her husband, a school headmaster, becomes the prime suspect. No spoilers here, but there are plenty of twists and turns before the final credits roll in this six-part series.<\/p>\n

Eve Myles and David Morrissey lead the drama, with Elliot Cowan and Emma Appleton in supporting roles. It is inspired by To Hunt A Killer from Julie Mackay and Robert Murphy, and was written by George Kay.<\/p>\n

Wonder Man\"sir<\/p>\n

Suzanne Tenner\/\/Marvel Studios<\/p>\n

Yes, it’s part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity, but you don’t need to know much at all about Infinity Stones or multiverses to enjoy this story about an actor trying to make a career for himself while trying to conceal his superpowers.<\/p>\n

We are again cheating with this one, as it has been renewed for a second season since its premiere in January. The superhero series boasts a stacked cast, including Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley. <\/p>\n

Wonder Man streams on Disney+.<\/p>\n

Spider-Noir\"nicolas<\/p>\n

Prime Video<\/p>\n

Keeping it comic book but a bit more stylised, the show follows the exploits of a private investigator with Spider-Man powers who must come out of retirement to solve one last case.<\/p>\n

Nicolas Cage leads the cast in this 1930s-set crime drama, turning his role from Spider-Verse franchise into live-action. It consists of eight episodes, and has both colour and black-and-white versions. <\/p>\n

Alice and Steve\"nicola<\/p>\n

Lara Cornell\/Disney+\/\/Disney+<\/p>\n

Finally, a more down-to-Earth drama about two people who have a falling out. The inciting incident here is when Steve, who has known Alice for over 20 years, starts dating her daughter. Understandably, she is quite upset.<\/p>\n

Nicola Walker and Jermaine Clement play the titular duo, with Joel Fry and Yali Topol Margalith in supporting roles. Prepare for some excruciating moments and fiery conversations.<\/p>\n
