INGLEWOOD, Calif. \u2014 Hollywood has been showing out for the 2026 FIFA World Cup<\/a> with several A-list celebrities attending matches at Los Angeles Stadium<\/a> throughout the tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s historic Round of 32 showdown with South Africa<\/a> on Sunday afternoon was no different, as the inaugural match drew a celebrity crowd again.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Actress Jessica Alba was among the most recognizable faces in attendance, joined by her boyfriend, fellow actor Danny Ramirez. Ted Lasso star Cristo Fern\u00e1ndez brought another familiar soccer connection to the stands. Canadian actor Simu Liu, who proudly grew up in Ontario, soaked in every moment as his home nation chased another piece of World Cup history.<\/p>\n

German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger made the trip to Los Angeles, while FIFA President Gianni Infantino was joined by CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani, Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe and South African Football Association President Danny Jordaan, underscoring the global significance of the tournament\u2019s first-ever Round of 32.<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s celebrity support has become one of the tournament\u2019s best side stories. Deadpool star and Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has been one of the Canucks\u2019 loudest supporters throughout the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has cheered on his country alongside pop superstar Katy Perry.<\/p>\n

On the pitch, Canada made them proud as the Reds advanced to their first-ever Round of 16 at a World Cup by defeating South Africa 1-0 on a stoppage time goal by Stephen Eustaquio to send them through.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Canada will face either Morocco or the Netherlands in Houston on the Fourth of July.<\/p>\n
