The Florida Panthers<\/a> have acquired veteran goalie Jacob Markstrom<\/a> and centre Angus Crookshank from the New Jersey Devils<\/a> in exchange for forward Evan Rodrigues<\/a>, centre Jesper Boqvist<\/a> and forward prospect Ben Steeves.<\/p>\n

New Jersey is not retaining any salary in the move, adds TSN Hockey Insider LeBrun. <\/p>\n

Following the addition of Markstrom and Akira Schmid<\/a> from the Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> on Monday, it appears the Panthers are moving on from veteran goalie Sergei Bobrovsky<\/a>, who will become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

Bobrovsky, who won two Stanley Cups with the Panthers, is No. 1 on TSN\u2019s Top 50 UFA List. <\/a><\/p>\n

Markstrom, 36, went 23-19-1 with the Devils last season with a 3.07 goals-against average and an .883 save percentage.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-6 netminder is entering the first season of a two-year, $12 million contract that carries a cap hit of $6 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2027-28 campaign.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old Rodrigues scored 11 goals and 20 assists over 69 games with the Panthers in 2025-26, his third season in Florida. <\/p>\n

Boqvist, 27, tallied four goals and nine assists over 73 games with the Panthers last season, his second in Florida. <\/p>\n

Rodrigues helped the Panthers win Stanley Cups in 2024 and 2025 while Boqvist was on the 2025 championship squad. <\/p>\n

Steeves, 24, scored 23 goals and 22 assists over 72 games with the AHL\u2019s Charlotte Checkers in 2025-26. <\/p>\n

The 26-year-old Crookshank played eight games with the Devils, scoring one goal. He add 24 goals and 12 assists over 60 games with the AHL\u2019s Utica Comets. <\/p>\n

Drafted 31st overall by the Panthers in 2008, Markstrom has a career 264-231-64 record with a .907 save percentage and 2.73 GAA split between the Panthers, Vancouver Canucks<\/a>, Calgary Flames<\/a>, and Devils.<\/p>\n

Markstrom\u2019s best season came during the 2021-22 campaign where he went 37-15-9 with a .922 save percentage and 2.22 GAA as a member of the Flames, finishing second in Vezina Trophy voting.<\/p>\n

The Gavle, Sweden, native represented his country at Milano Cortina 2026, finishing in seventh place. He also represented Sweden four times at the World Hockey Championship, winning gold in 2013.<\/p>\n

Panthers Acquired Schmid on Monday<\/p>\n

The Panthers already added a goalie to their roster this week, acquiring Akira Schmid<\/a> from the Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n

Schmid, 26, appeared in 34 games for the Golden Knights this past season, where he registered a 2.59 goals-against average and an .893 save percentage to go along with a 16-10-6 record.<\/p>\n

The fifth-year goaltender spent the past two seasons with Vegas after starting his career with the\u00a0New Jersey Devils<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Originally selected in the fifth round (136th overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Devils, Schmid made his NHL debut three years later with New Jersey.<\/p>\n

Over 82 career NHL games played, the native of Bern, Switzerland has a record of 32-28-10 to go with a 2.67 GAA and a .898 save percentage.<\/p>\n
