Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>This protocol has allegedly been evolving for years and dates back to before the late Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPalace aides or trusted friends were often present during meetings and on phone calls, both as witnesses and to provide support if needed,\u201d she claimed of the late monarch\u2019s protocol. <\/p>\n<p>Schofield explained that royal staffers handle Harry\u2019s visits from a \u201crisk management\u201d perspective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring meetings, a housemaid or butler serving tea may intentionally linger rather than immediately leave the room,\u201d Schofield said of Charles\u2019 visits with Harry (seen above). Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuckingham Palace now approaches every interaction with Prince Harry through the lens of protecting the institution rather than preserving the relationship,\u201d she claimed. \u201cThat might sound sad to some, but from the Palace\u2019s perspective, the pattern of the last several years has left them believing that many of Harry\u2019s decisions have ultimately served his own interests rather than the family\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether that\u2019s fair or not, it\u2019s the reality informing how they now manage these relationships.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Schofield also reacted to reports that Queen Camilla wanted to be in the room with her husband during his upcoming meeting with Harry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy understanding is that Queen Camilla has little appetite for engaging with Harry and Meghan. She will support the King whenever he asks, but she sees no value in revisiting old grievances,\u201d Schofield said.<\/p>\n<p>The current protocol allegedly started with the late Queen Elizabeth II (seen above with the royal family in 2007). Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re told there is allegedly a belief \u201cwithin royal circles\u201d that interactions with Harry and Markle have often been followed by \u201cpublic disclosures or competing narratives,\u201d which has made trust \u201cincredibly difficult to rebuild.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPast experience has taught the Palace to approach any proposed meeting with caution,\u201d Schofield said. <\/p>\n<p>The King also allegedly knows how to avoid certain conversations with his son. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCharles has demonstrated that he\u2019s willing to keep his distance when conversations become centered on money or contentious family issues,\u201d Schofield said. \u201cThe idea that he needs Queen Camilla to shield him from his youngest son simply doesn\u2019t fit with the decisions he\u2019s made over the past several years.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Buckingham Palace did not respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Meghan Markle (seen here with Harry in 2022) is expected to travel across the pond with Harry next month. Page Six confirmed that Harry will be<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/17\/royal-family\/meghan-markle-prince-harry-are-bringing-lilibet-archie-to-uk-for-first-time-in-years\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> bringing his two kids <\/a>\u2014 Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet \u2014 to meet with their grandfather.<\/p>\n<p>While Markle is expected to join Harry across the pond, it is unclear if she will be present for the family meeting with the King.<\/p>\n<p>Reports surfaced that the Sussexes could be scrapping the trip <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/28\/royal-family\/prince-harry-meghan-markle-and-kids-may-scrap-uk-visit-after-being-denied-taxpayer-funded-security\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">due to security concerns<\/a>. (Harry and Markle notably lost security privileges in the UK after they <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2020\/01\/08\/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-quit-the-royal-family\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">resigned from their royal duties<\/a> in 2020).<\/p>\n<p>However, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex told Page Six on Monday that the biggest \u201cissue\u201d with their travels is \u201cwhether appropriate security will be provided throughout the visit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrince Harry\u2019s programme in the United Kingdom includes both public and private engagements across the country,\u201d the statement read. \u201cSafe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Charles (seen here with Camilla in May) has been on the outs with Harry for years.
