{"id":772488,"date":"2026-07-01T03:32:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T03:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/772488\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T03:32:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T03:32:08","slug":"cleveland-guardians-cooper-ingle-loses-track-of-outs-tosses-ball-in-stands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/772488\/","title":{"rendered":"Cleveland Guardians&#8217; Cooper Ingle loses track of outs, tosses ball in stands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">CLEVELAND &#8212; Guardians rookie left fielder Cooper Ingle lost track of the number of outs in the seventh inning Tuesday night and casually tossed the live ball into the stands as a souvenir, allowing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/team-page\/texas-rangers\/237\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/team-page\/texas-rangers\/237\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Rangers<\/a> to score the go-ahead run in an eventual 4-2 win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">With a runner at second base and one out, Ingle, making just his second major league start as an outfielder, caught a routine fly ball hit by the Rangers\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/player\/alejandro-osuna\/1289834\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/player\/alejandro-osuna\/1289834\" target=\"_blank\">Alejandro Osuna<\/a> for the second out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Thinking it was out No. 3, Ingle looked at the ball in his glove before throwing it over the protective netting to fans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The umpires immediately ruled the ball was dead and Osuna was awarded home plate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It wasn\u2019t until then that Ingle realized his gaffe and walked back to his position in disbelief. He was charged with an error.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ingle was only brought up from Triple-A Columbus last week and was one of four rookies in Cleveland\u2019s lineup. He made his debut on June 26.
