The Canadian Football League has reinstated free-agent receiver Ajou Ajou, clearing him to sign with any team while maintaining a number of ongoing conditions tied to the league’s Gender-Based Violence and Harassment Policy.

The league announced Tuesday that Ajou has completed the requirements necessary for reinstatement following his suspension on April 16.

If he signs with a CFL club, the receiver will still be required to serve a six-game suspension before becoming eligible to play in regular-season or playoff games. Teams may determine whether he is permitted to participate in other football activities, including practices and meetings, while serving the suspension.

Ajou’s reinstatement came after he completed a three-part process established by the league. The requirements included 15 mandatory counselling sessions with a gender-based violence expert, an independent psychological assessment and a meeting with CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston.

The CFL said Ajou will also remain subject to confidential ongoing conditions. The league added that any future violations of its Gender-Based Violence and Harassment Policy would result in more severe discipline, including the possibility of a lifetime ban.

Ajou was suspended following a third-party investigation into allegations of aggressive and unwelcome physical contact involving multiple women at a Regina restaurant on Nov. 18, 2025. The CFL concluded those actions violated its Gender-Based Violence and Harassment Policy.

In Tuesday’s announcement, the league reiterated its stance against gender-based violence and harassment, stating such behaviour will not be tolerated regardless of whether it occurs in public or private settings.

The CFL also noted that all players, coaches and league personnel are required to complete annual education on gender-based violence and harassment, along with training covering match manipulation, concussion protocols, the player code of conduct and the league’s drug policy.
