Scottie Scheffler reeled in overnight leader Robert MacIntyre to win the BMW Championship, taking advantage of the Scot’s shaky start in Maryland.<\/p>\n
The world number one began the final day four shots behind but was in front by the seventh hole and finished two clear, chipping in at the 17th during a rollercoaster climax of frayed nerves.<\/p>\n
MacIntyre opened with back-to-back bogeys and dropped a further stroke at the fifth. Another shot would go before a solitary birdie on the third-last green.<\/p>\n
Struggling to find the fairways at Caves Valley, the chance of a third PGA Tour victory for the left-hander slipped away as Open champion Scheffler showed his mettle and class – despite a few uncharacteristic slips on his way to a three-under-par 67, taking him to 15 under for the week.<\/p>\n
