It was originally a simple circuit: long straights, fast corners and a paucity of braking points. The track has changed over the intervening 76 years, but the current layout retains its reputation for extreme speeds, albeit now combined with a lower-speed infield section, complete with a tight chicane, that asks new questions of the cars.

This year’s British Grand Prix coincides with the 4th of July, with Saturday’s Sprint event and Grand Prix Qualifying taking place on the anniversary of America’s 250th birthday. To mark the occasion, the car will be sporting a full-color red, white and blue livery, a deliberate expression of the team’s American identity, pulling on the stars and stripes icons that symbolize its American heritage and honor the milestone in the country’s history.

The color scheme will be replicated across the garage dressing, driver helmets and team kit, making for a timeless display that forms a connected, cohesive visual expression of America’s 250th anniversary across an iconic weekend in the sport.

The special livery will also be displayed in New Orleans at the Cadillac Formula 1® Team x Jim Beam Pit Stop BBQ at ESSENCE Fest, one of the largest cultural gatherings and most influential cultural platforms in the United States. It is a unique opportunity for the Cadillac Formula 1® Team to continue to bring the sport into the moments, communities, and conversations that shape culture and open the door to emerging fans.

“The 4th of July weekend is a moment for us to show our continued pride in representing the United States on the global stage of F1,” said Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac Formula 1® Team Holdings. “We want to use it as an opportunity to allow new communities to discover the sport and share our passion.”

On-track, the focus for the American squad will be to bounce back following a challenging race last weekend in Austria.

“The Austrian Grand Prix was a challenge for us – but there is not one team in the pitlane that has not had similar days,” said Graeme Lowdon, Team Principal. “We have been working incredibly hard to rectify the issues. We have seen that the upgrades brought to Spielberg were positive, and our objective in Silverstone is to ensure that we have a clean weekend to maximize the performance potential we see. We appreciate it’s a big task – especially coming so soon after Austria – but we will take every opportunity to learn, move forward and continue our progress as a team.”

Silverstone is a circuit where both Cadillac Formula 1® Team drivers have long histories, having come through the ranks of junior categories on this track. Valtteri Bottas was a winner here in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, before 14 F1 appearances that have netted him two pole positions and five podium finishes.

Checo Perez, meanwhile, had fastest lap in 2021, and a best finish of second in 2022. Colton Herta – out in action in F2 – has finished on the podium in both the British F4 Championship, and the Euroformula Open Championship, while Zhou Guanyu excelled in the Formula 2 feature race at this circuit, third in 2019, second in 2020 and victorious in 2021.

Checo Pérez:

“The team continues to show so much promise and I am encouraged by the flashes of performance we demonstrated in Austria. That said, we need to now focus on getting the foundations completely solid to unlock that potential. To develop our car and this team as rapidly as possible, we need to get mileage and information in every session. Silverstone will be a tricky event and it looks like high temperatures again, but we have a lot of experience and resilience in this team to find the way forward. I’m looking forward to the weekend and hope to be able to give our American fans another reason to celebrate the 4th of July.”

Valtteri Bottas:

“Silverstone is a real drivers’ circuit, it’s very fast but technical enough to make you really think about what you’re doing, which means a driver can really make a difference. While Austria was a disappointing race, the weekend itself had many positives, with us having moments where we were closer to the midfield than we were to the back of the grid. It was, however, my third DNF in a row, and so the priority now is ensuring we have a car that is more robust and capable of finishing races.”

About Cadillac Formula 1® Team

The Cadillac Formula 1® Team is a specialist motor racing team competing in the FIA Formula 1® World Championship.
