{"id":774738,"date":"2026-07-02T04:28:32","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T04:28:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/774738\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T04:28:32","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T04:28:32","slug":"virtual-care-nb-now-open-to-support-patient-access","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/774738\/","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Care NB now open to support patient access"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New Brunswickers now have access to a new virtual health\u2011care service with the launch of Virtual Care NB.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The provincial government said the service begins offering appointments on Tuesday and will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It provides video, telephone and chat consultations, along with bilingual services and links to other parts of the health\u2011care system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are pleased to bring Virtual Care NB to New Brunswickers starting tomorrow and provide another way to access timely health care,\u201d Health Minister John Dornan said in a government release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis service supports individuals without a primary care provider, as well as those whose provider is unavailable and who require care for an issue that cannot wait. It is another important step in our work to build a more integrated and patient\u2011focused health\u2011care system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Virtual Care NB will assess and treat many common non\u2011urgent illnesses, injuries, infections and general health concerns, according to the provincial government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will also offer prescription renewals, patient follow-ups, and laboratory referrals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People can access the service through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gnb.ca\/en\/topic\/health-wellness\/access-health-care\/virtual-care.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gnb.ca\/en\/topic\/health-wellness\/access-health-care\/virtual-care.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Virtual Care NB<\/a>, MyHealthNB website and mobile app, or through Tele\u2011Care 811.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The province explained that the online symptom checker and Tele\u2011Care 811 will act as entry points, guiding people to the most appropriate care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This may include booking a virtual appointment or being connected with other services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Virtual Care NB is available to anyone with a valid New Brunswick medicare card, and the province says no account or specific mobile app is required.<\/p>\n<p>                                                                                                                                                                                                                <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/alex-sq-rev.jpg\"  class=\"multiple_authors_guest_author_avatar avatar\" height=\"100\" width=\"100\"\/>                                                                                                                                                                                                            <\/p>\n<p>Alex Allan is an award-winning multimedia journalist and graduate of Fanshawe College&#8217;s Journalism Broadcasting and Digital Communication Management programs.
