Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre and West Village Revitalization Project<\/p>\n<p>A beach-themed charity golf tournament will help raise funds for underprivileged youth in the Sault.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by Play4Purpose, a student-run non-profit, the tournament will benefit the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre and the West Village Revitalization Project.<\/p>\n<p>Set for July 17, registration is open for teams of four for $800, with a full 18-hole day planned at Crimson Ridge Golf Club with breakfast, lunch and dinner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have prizes for the best dressed, and a lot of on-course games and challenges will be beach themed as well, so it&#8217;s just a nice way to get everyone involved,\u201d said Landon Assiginack, one of the\u00a0organizers.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the non-profit\u2019s inaugural tournament raised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sootoday.com\/local-news\/really-great-golf-tournament-raises-thousands-for-soup-kitchen-11149751\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">$3,700 for the Soup Kitchen<\/a>, and organizers opted to include West Village as a second beneficiary this week for the work they do with local youth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey&#8217;re centred around the same idea of supporting a lot of the at-risk and underprivileged youth in the community,\u201d Assiginack said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey&#8217;re trying to do more programming, whether it&#8217;s sports, arts, whatever it is, for the kids in the community, so both of the places we&#8217;re donating to this year both have a lot of youth engagement and programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although Assiginack and fellow local organizer Jack Tuckett recently graduated from university, they plan to remain involved with the student-run Play4Purpose to organize tournaments that benefit local youth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is something that we both have discussed, and that we want to continue to run,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegardless of where we are, what we&#8217;re doing, we want to continue this for the long term.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in signing up for the\u00a0Play4Purpose Beach Themed Charity Golf Tournament can do so <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfgenius.com\/pages\/12753315388700233206\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"All proceeds from Play4Purpose golf tournament will benefit the Sault Ste.
