The head coach of a private volleyball club in North Vancouver who was once a star volleyball player in international competitions\u00a0has been charged with 10 sexual offences, most of those involving teenaged girls.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, North Vancouver RCMP announced charges had been laid against Iraj\u00a0Mozaffari, 57, of North Vancouver.<\/p>\n
Mozaffari is head coach and founder of the Toop o Toor\u00a0Volleyball Club in North Vancouver, which he started after immigrating to Canada from Iran.<\/p>\n
Mozaffari has been charged with three counts of sexual interference of a person under 16, two counts of touching a young person for a sexual purpose, and five counts of sexual assault.<\/p>\n
The incidents are alleged to have happened between January 2016 and December 2024 in North Vancouver.<\/p>\n
Four of the victims were girls under 18 at the time of the alleged offences, said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP. One of the victims was an adult.<\/p>\n
Police announced in April 2025 that they had launched an investigation after receiving multiple reports in December 2024 that teenagers had been sexually assaulted by a volleyball coach while participating in a local volleyball club.<\/p>\n
At that time, police also urged anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Sahak praised the victims for being willing to speak to police.<\/p>\n
\u201cWithout their courage, we would not be in the position we are in today.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added anyone who is a victim of sexual offences or experiencing trauma related to past incidents can call the RCMP\u2019s victim services unit at 604-969-7540.<\/p>\n
