{"id":777673,"date":"2026-07-03T13:09:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T13:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/777673\/"},"modified":"2026-07-03T13:09:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T13:09:16","slug":"verstappen-hamilton-may-refuse-silverstones-f1-lego-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/777673\/","title":{"rendered":"Verstappen, Hamilton may refuse Silverstone&#8217;s F1 Lego parade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Not every Formula 1 driver is looking forward to Sunday\u2019s Lego-themed drivers\u2019 parade at Silverstone.<\/p>\n<p>After the success of last year\u2019s two-seater Lego cars in Miami, Formula 1 has gone a step further by giving each driver an individual Lego mini-kart for the British GP parade.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/HMOTF_AW8AAxVKL.jpeg\" alt=\"Image\"\/><\/p>\n<p>But Max Verstappen is not among the fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to be done with it as soon as possible,\u201d the Red Bull driver said. \u201cI\u2019ll wave to the fans, because they deserve it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it were up to me, there would just be a normal drivers\u2019 parade. What\u2019s wrong with an electric truck just driving us around the circuit?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cI\u2019m fine with that, but I have no influence on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/HMSyNaFXMAADr2E.jpeg\" alt=\"Image\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Lewis Hamilton went even further, suggesting he may skip the parade altogether.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the most dangerous part of the weekend,\u201d the Ferrari driver said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI let Charles drive last time and it was just hilarious watching everyone crashing into each other. So yeah, I don\u2019t know whether or not I\u2019ll be in the Lego car this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he was genuinely concerned about injury, Hamilton replied: \u201cThere\u2019s not really much to say on the car thing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s something I need to take offline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen suggested Formula 1 has more pressing priorities than Lego cars, pointing again to his criticism of the 2026 regulations.<\/p>\n<p>A week ago he revealed he \u201cburst out laughing\u201d after driving Silverstone layout in the simulator because of the severe energy management required.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, not at all,\u201d he said when asked if the recent rule tweaks had improved the situation. \u201cWe are very far from that, especially on this circuit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven in Austria, we didn\u2019t use our natural driving style in the corners. Next year, that will get a little bit better, but with what we have now, we really have to adapt to that as drivers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have of course been in contact with Formula 1 and the FIA. I\u2019m sure it won\u2019t feel as special as it used to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not everyone is complaining about the Lego parade, however.<\/p>\n<p>Audi rookie Gabriel Bortoleto said: \u201cLast year, I think everyone had fun, and I don\u2019t see why this year we cannot have fun as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s good.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"(GMM) Not every Formula 1 driver is looking forward to Sunday\u2019s Lego-themed drivers\u2019 parade at Silverstone.
