The music scene in Toronto hits different and this summer in the city, there are free live performances at a stunning waterfront park all season long.<\/p>\n
From July 18 to Aug. 26, SummerSeries in Trillium Park<\/a> will bring together \u201clive music, art and cultural experiences.\u201d Trillium Park is situated on the waterfront grounds of Ontario Place at 955 Lake Shore Blvd. W.<\/p>\n \u201cThis free program offers a vibrant lineup of entertainment for all ages, with something for everyone to enjoy,\u201d according to the team at Ontario Place.<\/p>\n So, if you\u2019re ready to soak up the sounds of jazz, R&B, indie folk, alt rock and more, here\u2019s a look at this year\u2019s SummerSeries lineup.<\/p>\n Summer Live Music Festival<\/p>\n To kick things off, SING! and the Emerging Artists Association will present Summer Live Music Festival, an annual event that runs as part of SummerSeries.<\/p>\n The celebration will take place on July 18 while featuring two programs, including Live Jazz and SING! in the Summer.<\/p>\n Performances will include sets from four award-winning emerging bands and three a cappella groups to showcase a mix of original jazz, beatboxing, world and pop music.<\/p>\n Aside from the live showcases and waterfront views, there will also be food and drink offerings. And don\u2019t forget to bring your own blanket or chair.<\/p>\n Indigenous Sounds Now<\/p>\n On July 19, Indigenous Sounds Now, curated by Elaine Bomberry, will present the cultures, stories and songs of Indigenous people.<\/p>\n \u201cThe incredible range of vibrations range from the heartfelt beats of traditional pow wow drums, blends of electronica fused with Indig rhythms, soulful blues and slick alt-rock grooves,\u201d according to the team at Ontario Place.<\/p>\n And the lineup includes Eagle Heart Drummers, DJ Kimiwvn, The Healers and Najiwan.<\/p>\n Mixto Festival<\/p>\n Now in its eighth year, Mixto Festival is an intergenerational party that will bring together communities, cultures and experiences on July 25.<\/p>\n Expect live music and DJs alongside children\u2019s programming, food and craft vendors, a licensed bar and art installations.<\/p>\n \u201cMixto Festival brings the block party vibes you love \u2014 niche and experimental, inclusive and underground, yet always safe, welcome and rooted in joy,\u201d the team at Ontario Place said.<\/p>\n City Hall Live<\/p>\n Mixto Festival has also teamed up with the City of Toronto to produce a music discovery series on July 26 called City Hall Live.<\/p>\n Set to highlight local musicians while partnering with grassroots organizations, venues and presenters, the family-friendly celebration will include live music and entertainment, an on-site bar and food vendors.<\/p>\n It\u2019s OK* World<\/p>\n Showcasing Toronto\u2019s Black arts community, It\u2019s OK* World is running its fourth annual outdoor festival on Aug. 8.<\/p>\n \u201cSet against the backdrop of a warm summer, this festival celebrates art, culture, and community,\u201d the Ontario Place team said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a space for Black artists to shine, heal and share their stories.\u201d<\/p>\n The Academy presents: Soulquarians in the Park<\/p>\n On Aug. 9, The Academy will present a day long tribute to \u201cone of hip hop and R&B\u2019s most legendary music collectives,\u201d The Soulquarians.<\/p>\n Expect renditions of songs by Erykah Badu, The Roots, D\u2019Angelo, Common, J Dilla, Q-Tip, Talib Kweli, Yasiin Bey and Bilal.<\/p>\n Open Canvas Music and Arts Festival<\/p>\n Open Canvas, a not-for-profit festival, is returning to Trillium Park on Aug. 15 for a waterfront celebration featuring live music, art installations, local food vendors and community programming.<\/p>\n \u201cThis year\u2019s festival invites attendees to move through the city together, discovering new sounds, new food, and new friends along the way,\u201d the Ontario Place team states.<\/p>\n Wavelength Summer Thing<\/p>\n Hosting a full day of fun ranging from indie folk to Afro-Brazilian percussion to alternative hip hop, Wavelength Summer Thing will bring its annual celebration to Trillium Park on Aug. 16.<\/p>\n Visitors can look forward to immersive art and installations, food vendors, interactive activities and an indie market.<\/p>\n More free music in Toronto<\/p>\n For more free live music in Toronto, Play the Parks, presented by the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (BIA), is hosting its 14th season throughout July and August.\u00a0<\/p>\n The 2026 series showcases a vibrant mix of musical genres from Canadian artists across \u201ciconic downtown Yonge locations\u201d including 777 Bay Plaza, College Park, College Park Courtyard, Trinity Square Park and Granby Parkette.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom world, Latin, funk and jazz to Afro, rock, classical, hip hop, Indigenous music and more, each performance offers a unique soundscape in the heart of the city,\u201d according to the BIA.<\/p>\n \u201cWhether you drop in for a lunchtime groove or a weekend vibe, there\u2019s no better way to enjoy the season, connect with your community, and celebrate Toronto\u2019s diverse music scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
