{"id":777756,"date":"2026-07-03T14:06:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T14:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/777756\/"},"modified":"2026-07-03T14:06:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T14:06:09","slug":"dale-earnhardt-jr-drops-concerning-chicagoland-prediction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/777756\/","title":{"rendered":"Dale Earnhardt Jr. drops concerning Chicagoland prediction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dale Earnhardt Jr. was full of 2027 NASCAR Cup Series Schedule news this week.\u00a0 After revealing that he\u2019s hearing that the Cup Series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/dale-earnhardt-jr-drops-major-2027-nascar-schedule-rumor\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">will return to Naval Base Coronado in 2027<\/a>, Dale Jr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4rbOwA3OyEs&amp;t=2999s\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">had another return to the schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And a 2026 race that is not likely to return.\u00a0 That dubious distinction goes to the track of this weekend\u2019s Cup race, Chicagoland Speedway.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChicagoland ought to be pretty badass,\u201d said Earnhardt Jr. \u201cI\u2019m excited. I heard ticket sales aren\u2019t going well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I guess Chicago Street Course is coming back. So, I don\u2019t know if Chicagoland stays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m nervous.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ticket sales were the same issue 7 years ago\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>NASCAR is returning to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend after a 7-year hiatus.\u00a0 Earnhardt Jr. bemoaned the fact but pointed to lagging ticket sales in today\u2019s NASCAR economics.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe haven\u2019t even gotten it back yet. We already lost it. You know, [ticket sales is] probably why we stopped going.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, you can look at the races and go, \u2018Hey, man, that\u2019s awesome. Why did we stop going there?\u2019 But, man, if it don\u2019t sell tickets, if the land is more valuable, used as anything else.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the tickets aren\u2019t selling. I mean, if it\u2019s selling out, it would have never left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that\u2019s probably if it doesn\u2019t stay on the calendar. That\u2019s why.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If it\u2019s one-and-done, it\u2019ll still be badass<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the future, Earnhardt Jr. is fired up for the challenge Chicagoland presents the Next Gen car.\u00a0 He\u2019s expecting fireworks from the action on this July 4th weekend; nothing screams freedom like 670 horsepower on an old racing surface with the potential for drivers to \u2018bust their ass.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd that\u2019s tough because it\u2019s what we should expect? It\u2019s a badass racetrack. They\u2019ll be racing from the apron to the wall. And it\u2019s got some really nasty bumps and difficult things that are going to be really hard for the Next Gen car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChallenging for the Next Gen car. So I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll see some accidents or some guys busting their ass. Especially, there\u2019s a tunnel bump in three and four that\u2019s pretty bad.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I think it\u2019ll be pretty badass. I\u2019m looking forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Qualifying for Sunday\u2019s race, eero 400, will get underway on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET and be televised on TruTV.
