Police have charged a Brampton man after a Toronto lifeguard was thrown clear from a boat in a jet ski crash, investigators say.<\/p>\n
The marine collision happened on Thursday in the Scarborough Bluffs area while a City of Toronto Beach Lifeguard was patrolling the designated swim zone aboard a patrol vessel, the Toronto Police Service says.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s when police say the driver of a jet ski entered the swim zone and crashed into the lifeguard\u2019s vessel.<\/p>\n
The lifeguard was ejected into the water in the collision, and police say the jet ski operator continued riding before being directed to shore by another lifeguard.<\/p>\n
Police say\u00a0Tristan Latchman, 20, of Brampton, has been arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance,<\/p>\n
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto on Aug. 25.<\/p>\n
The incident has led to a reminder from the Toronto Police Marine Unit that all boaters and jet ski operators are required to operate safely, obey all posted restrictions, maintain safe speeds, and remain clear of designated swim areas.<\/p>\n
