She will be working to merge the newly acquired Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd and lead transformation initiatives, Affin Bank said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer appointment strengthens our wealth and asset management franchise as we integrate Affin Pheim into the group,\u201d said president Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment confirms The Edge Malaysia\u2019s report on June 12.<\/p>\n<p>Affin Bank is reorganising itself as the bank looks to ramp up its wealth management capabilities and boost fee-based income. The lender completed its RM50 million cash acquisition of Pheim on April 22, which marked its re-entry into the asset management space.<\/p>\n<p>The bank had previously held a 63% stake in Affin Hwang Asset Management Bhd, but sold the business for a hefty RM1.2 billion in July 2022 as it needed capital to grow the bank\u2019s business further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we continue to scale capabilities and capture greater market share, the objective is to deliver sophisticated, institutional-grade wealth solutions across the entire network,\u201d Razly added.<\/p>\n<p>Trained as an economist, Choo started at accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
