John Mahoney \/ Montreal Gazette<\/p>\n<p>While much of the money in the contract was front-loaded, it was still very much in effect when Weber was <a href=\"https:\/\/montrealgazette.com\/sports\/hockey\/hockey-inside-out\/what-the-puck-canadiens-fans-remain-divided-on-legacy-of-shea-weber\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">traded to the Canadiens in exchange for P.K. Subban<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Weber played 313 games as a Canadien, including 38 in the playoffs, where he led the Habs to their most recent Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Because of injuries, Weber never played again after 2021, but his contract was far from done, so it was <a href=\"https:\/\/montrealgazette.com\/sports\/hockey\/hockey-inside-out\/canadiens-trade-captain-shea-weber-to-vegas-for-forward-evgenii-dadonov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">traded to Vegas<\/a> \u2026 then Arizona, which became Utah, then Chicago.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/montrealgazette.com\/sports\/hockey\/hockey-inside-out\/former-canadien-shea-weber-in-shock-after-hall-of-fame-induction\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Weber was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2024<\/a>, two years before his contract expired. <\/p>\n<p>Over the course of his NHL career, the B.C. native posted 224-365-589 totals across 1,038 regular-season games and was a three-time Norris Trophy finalist.
