Celebrated Winnipeg director and performer Rob Herriot has passed away.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Multiple sources confirm that Herriot\u00a0passed away in Winnipeg on July 3.\u00a0He was 60 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Herriot\u00a0was well-regarded in Winnipeg and across\u00a0North America\u00a0for his work in both opera and musical\u00a0theatre.\u00a0He was a frequent collaborator\u00a0with\u00a0local\u00a0organizations like Manitoba Opera, the Little Opera Company of Winnipeg,\u00a0and\u00a0Rainbow\u00a0Stage.\u00a0Outside of Manitoba,\u00a0Herriot lent his directorial vision to groups like\u00a0Opera Kelowna,\u00a0Calgary Opera,\u00a0Utah Opera,\u00a0and Arizona\u00a0Opera.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A passionate\u00a0educator, Herriot worked with emerging artists\u00a0all over the country as they developed their skills. He\u00a0frequently\u00a0worked with artists\u00a0at the University of Manitoba’s Desautels Faculty of Music and at NUOVA Vocal Arts in Edmonton, one of Canada’s most prestigious summer training programs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Herriot is\u00a0being remembered\u00a0as a director with passion and vision. Most recently, he directed a vintage Canadian-style production of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte\u00a0which debuted at Manitoba Opera\u00a0in 2023. The production has since\u00a0toured to\u00a0Vancouver and Edmonton to great\u00a0acclaim.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Herriot is survived by his husband Lars\u00a0Treloar.\u00a0<\/p>\n
