{"id":78201,"date":"2025-08-18T07:49:05","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T07:49:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/78201\/"},"modified":"2025-08-18T07:49:05","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T07:49:05","slug":"meet-the-woman-behind-macclesfields-new-independent-bookshop-local-news-news-macclesfield-nub-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/78201\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet the woman behind Macclesfield&#8217;s new independent bookshop | Local News | News | Macclesfield Nub News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new independent bookshop is opening in Macclesfield<\/p>\n<p>The Quiet Cat Bookshop, located at the Grosvenor Centre, is preparing to welcome its first customers.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the till you will find local resident and book lover, Suzy Prince.<\/p>\n<p>The 52-year-old said: &#8220;Every town should have a bookshop.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Macclesfield has a Waterstones, and I love the fact it is here and I hope it stays here for many years, but I just think there&#8217;s space for something slightly different.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m sure there are a lot of people who will really appreciate what we do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added: &#8220;I&#8217;ve always been in and around books.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything I have worked in has always been about writing and words.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m just so excited to open, I really can&#8217;t wait!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"w-full no-prose p-0 m-0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/category.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Suzy and her partner own Bopcap Books in Levenshulme (Credit: Suzy Prince)<\/p>\n<p>Suzy was born in Macclesfield but grew up in the Peak District.<\/p>\n<p>Following university, where she studied English literature, Suzy moved to London, where she co-owned a shop selling books and gifts.<\/p>\n<p>After 15 years she and her partner moved to Manchester, with Suzy later setting up a stall selling gifts and books at Levenshulme Market.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t know anybody when we moved there.
