An injury appears to be the real reason behind his return to the University of Michigan.<\/p>\n

The Montreal Canadiens prospect suffered the injury during the NCAA playoffs.<\/p>\n

That’s what his mother, Rania, told the excellent Pat Guillet. And it explains a lot!<\/p>\n

According to her, the injury slowed the young centerman’s development (at least in Michael’s view).<\/p>\n

Enough to change his plans for next season. It certainly sheds a very different light on his decision.<\/p>\n

Without that injury, would Michael Hage have already signed his contract with the Montreal Canadiens?<\/p>\n

Michael Hage’s patient approach could set him up for a stronger Canadiens debut next spring<\/p>\n

Hage’s approach says a lot about his maturity. Rather than forcing the issue and rushing his arrival in the NHL, he is choosing patience.<\/p>\n

Hage wants to arrive in the NHL at the peak of his game.<\/p>\n

That said, his talent continues to shine.<\/p>\n

During Thursday’s intra-squad game in Brossard, Hage delivered a standout performance.<\/p>\n

He scored two goals, added an assist, and capped it all off with a beautiful shootout goal.<\/p>\n

The injury clearly hasn’t taken away his offensive instincts.<\/p>\n

His mother, meanwhile, remains fully confident about what’s ahead. She believes he could be wearing a Canadiens jersey as early as next April.<\/p>\n

“Michael’s mother Rania confided in me that her son had chosen to return to the University of Michigan next season due to the injury he sustained during the NCAA playoffs. According to him, this injury somewhat slowed his development. He therefore wants to play another season in the college ranks to continue his progress and fine-tune the various aspects of his game…. For his part, Michael wants to arrive in the NHL under the best possible conditions.”<\/p>\n

The college hockey schedule would make that scenario possible.<\/p>\n

Once his NCAA season comes to an end, the door to the Canadiens could open for Michael Hage. And ultimately, the club could have him available for the 2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs, if applicable.<\/p>\n
