Sunday’s game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers took a turn for the worse after both starting quarterbacks exited with injuries.<\/p>\n
Tiger-Cats QB Bo Levi Mitchell was taken off the field in an ambulance after taking a sack from Jake Ceresna, where his foot appeared to get caught under the Blue Bombers lineman.<\/p>\n
The 14-year-old CFL veteran gave a thumbs-up to the crowd as he was lifted from the stretcher into the ambulance.<\/p>\n
Mitchell, who had been off to a strong start in 2026, had completed 18-of-29 passes on Sunday for 228 yards and one touchdown. The 36-year-old entered the matchup against Winnipeg with 879 yards passing, eight touchdowns and one interception through his first three games \u2014 two of which were Tiger-Cats victories.<\/p>\n
Tre Ford entered in Mitchell’s place under centre.<\/p>\n
“If he’s out for a while, I’ll feel for Bo the person,” Tiger-Cats Scott Milanovich said. “I told you guys in training camp he’s been on a tear.<\/p>\n
“It’s the best I’ve ever seen him play and I think he is\/was depending on the situation, poised to have just a monster year. Hopefully he’ll be back but if he’s not then we’re going to have to pick up the pieces.”<\/p>\n
The three-time Grey Cup champion appeared to be injured on a sack in the second quarter, when Hamilton defensive back Reggie Stubblefield sacked Collaros up high.<\/p>\n
Collaros stayed down on the field on the play before walking off under his own power. He was replaced by Taylor Elgersma on the next Blue Bombers drive.<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old Collaros was 5-of-7 in the game for 41 yards, but was intercepted in the first quarter. He entered Sunday with 944 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions through three games.<\/p>\n
While the injuries put a cloud over the game, it did pave way for some history.<\/p>\n
Ford and Elgersma became the first U Sports quarterbacks to both attempt a pass in the same CFL game since Frank Cosentino and Russ Jackson in 1969.<\/p>\n
“Two premier starting quarterbacks going down in the same game is not good for the league,” said Winnipeg head coach Mike O’Shea. “Hopefully both guys make a speedy recovery, I don’t know anything about either one right now.<\/p>\n
“Bo was on a heater and the league needs that and obviously we believe Zach is the best quarterback in the league. When you lose that, the game ends up probably the lowest-scoring game this season I’d imagine.”<\/p>\n
The Blue Bombers won the game 14-13, the lowest-scoring game of the season.<\/p>\n
