59. That\u2019s how many riders came into the Tour de France without contracts for next season.<\/p>\n

Over the last few days, we\u2019ve spoken to agents, team bosses, and several sources to narrow that list as much as possible. This feature identifies all riders, team by team, who publicly haven\u2019t been confirmed under 2027 contracts, provides concrete updates on as many as possible, and lists those still on the market.<\/p>\n

As we\u2019re going team-by-team, our first stop is Visma-Lease a Bike, since UAE Team Emirates-XRG have only brought riders to the Tour de France under next-season contracts.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s almost a match with Jonan Vingegaard\u2019s team, with the only slight exception being Edoardo Affini. While the Italian is listed as out of contract next year, as we previously wrote in the early spring, he\u2019s already agreed terms on a new deal with the Dutch team. It\u2019s just a case of waiting on the official press release from Visma. It\u2019s possible that such news might drop during the Tour rest days. However, teams can hold off on news such for a number of reasons – one of them simply being a desire to wait until later in the year when a batch of contract extensions can be made public. There are instances of some riders signing contract extensions in 2025 for 2027 and beyond, who still haven\u2019t been announced by their teams.<\/p>\n

Over at Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, Nico Denz and Jai Hindley are technically out of contract too. As we reported ahead of the Tour de France, the Australian is set to stay on the team following his third-place finish in the Giro d\u2019Italia. With Denz, from what I\u2019ve gathered, no deal has been struck yet. By all accounts, the team are happy with him; he wouldn\u2019t be at the Tour nor have done the Giro d\u2019Italia if that wasn\u2019t the case, but Ralph Denk wasn\u2019t giving anything away when we caught up with him ahead of stage 2. Talks remain ongoing.<\/p>\n

At Lidl-Trek, the only Tour starter without a deal that has been made public is Quinn Simmons, but as we\u2019ve said several times, he\u2019s already extended; it\u2019s just a matter of the team announcing the deal.<\/p>\n
