{"id":784846,"date":"2026-07-06T23:14:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T23:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/784846\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T23:14:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T23:14:07","slug":"starbucks-actively-reassessing-2030-climate-goal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/784846\/","title":{"rendered":"Starbucks \u201cActively Reassessing\u201d 2030 Climate Goal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Coffee retailing giant Starbucks revealed in its 2025 Impact Report that it is \u201cactively reassessing\u201d its 2030 value chain emissions reduction target, as it evaluates \u201cthe implications of emerging regulations, ongoing updates to relevant standards\u201d and the impact of headwinds posing challenges to the achievement of its goal.<\/p>\n<p>Starbucks initially unveiled its climate goal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esgtoday.com\/starbucks-sets-aggressive-sustainability-targets\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in 2020<\/a>, targeting a 50% reduction in Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2030, on a 2019 basis.<\/p>\n<p><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.workiva.com\/blog\/introducing-sustainability-disclosure-agent?utm_segment=Sustainability-Management&amp;utm_geo=Global&amp;utm_campaign=Brand-Awareness&amp;utm_medium=Advertising&amp;utm_type=Programmatic&amp;utm_content=Display&amp;utm_source=ESG-Today&amp;utm_iteration=agentic-display-esgtoday\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"midpage image June 2026\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/midpage-image-June-2026-1.png\" alt=\"\"   width=\"900\" height=\"180\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While the company\u2019s impact report indicates that it has succeeded in cutting operational emissions, with Scope 1 and 2 falling 17% since 2019, and in reducing its overall emissions intensity by 3%, however, wider value chain emissions have continued to climb, with Scope 3 rising by 8% since 2019.
