Photo: Sirotti<\/p>\n<p>Rusty raced for several North American and European Continental Teams in the 2010\u2019s before joining Cannondale-Drapac, an early incarnation of EF Education-Easypost, in 2016. It was with this squad that he achieved some of his greatest accomplishments: runner-up to Bob Jungels in the 2018 Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge, bronze in the 2018 World Championships, and two of three career stage victories in the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodsWinT-A.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodsWinT-A.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1848\" height=\"1228\" class=\"size-full wp-image-85365\"  \/><\/a>Woods takes the victory in Saturnia in the 2020 Tirreno-Adriatico. Photo: Sirotti<\/p>\n<p>Woods transferred to Israel-Start Up Nation in 2021 to become one of four Canadians on the squad. Here, he took the La Route d\u2019Occitanie-La D\u00e9p\u00eache du Midi title two years in a row and won Stage 9 of the 2023 Tour de France, triumphant atop the mighty Puy de D\u00f4me. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodsPuy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodsPuy.jpg\" alt=\"Michael Woods is Canadian national champion!\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90558\"  \/><\/a>The big Tour de France win on the Puy de D\u00f4me.<\/p>\n<p>In Woods\u2019 final season with IPT, he was one of six Canucks on the squad. He started 2025 with tenth in the Santos Tour Down Under. Breaking his collarbone in March\u2019s Milano-Torino, a race his won in 2019, he came back in June\u2019s Tour de Suisse but fell prey to illness. In his thirteenth and final Grand Tour, the Tour de France, he got in four breakaways and finished 52nd. His final WorldTour races with be September\u2019s Grand Prix Cycliste de Qu\u00e9bec and Grand Prix Cycliste de Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/25TourWoodsBreakaway2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/25TourWoodsBreakaway2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1045\" height=\"710\" class=\"size-full wp-image-127088\"  \/><\/a>Woods in the breakaway in July\u2019s Tour de France.<\/p>\n<p>Woods\u2019 palmares right now is 16 victories, his very first Stage 5 of the 2015 Larry H.Miller Tour of Utah.
