Rubin Observatory in Chile has begun the world\u2019s largest astronomical imaging survey after more than two decades of development and construction, launching the 10-year Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) project led by Croatian scientist \u017deljko Ivezi\u0107.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Since 2021, academician Ivezi\u0107\u00a0has been the Director of Construction at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory; previously, he was the Deputy Director and Project Scientist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The observatory, located on Cerro Pach\u00f3n in northern Chile, will image the entire southern sky every few nights over the next decade, producing the most comprehensive and detailed survey of the universe ever undertaken, the University of Rijeka\u2019s Faculty of Physics said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The project is expected to generate the largest astronomical database ever assembled, containing information on around 40 billion celestial objects.
