Forget the Twilight<\/a> Saga, because according to Robert Pattinson<\/a>, he\u2019s found himself in another onscreen love triangle in The Odyssey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During a recent interview with MTV U.K.<\/a> at the world premiere<\/a> in London of Christopher Nolan\u2019s epic action-fantasy film<\/a>, based on Homer\u2019s ancient Greek poem, Pattinson was asked, \u201cHow fun is it to play a character that everyone is not rooting for?\u201d<\/p>\n

In The Odyssey, he plays Antinous, the primary antagonist and one of the many suitors pressuring Queen Penelope (Anne Hathaway) to marry him while King Odysseus (Matt Damon) is away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they will be rooting for him. I keep comparing it\u2026 it\u2019s kind of like Jacob in Twilight,\u201d Pattinson responded with a laugh, referencing Taylor Lautner<\/a>\u2018s character in the blockbuster vampire romance franchise that launched his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat The Odyssey is about \u2014\u00a0Penelope just can\u2019t make her mind up between the two guys and I\u2019m just trying to like help her make a decision. \u2026 It\u2019s like, it\u2019s fine. He\u2019s dead, get over it,\u201d The Drama actor quipped.<\/p>\n

While The Odyssey and Twilight don\u2019t have much in common, Pattinson was likely referring to Jacob\u2019s attempts to win Bella\u2019s (Kristen Stewart) heart from Edward (Pattinson) throughout most of the film franchise. Though Jacob was Edward\u2019s romantic rival, he still had many fans rooting for him.<\/p>\n

Universal Pictures\u2019 The Odyssey, which hits theaters on July 17, follows Odysseus\u2019 dangerous voyage back to Ithaca after the Trojan War, including battles with mythical creatures, as he attempts to reunite with his family. The pic also stars Tom Holland, Zendaya and Lupita Nyong\u2019o.<\/p>\n

Pattinson previously told GQ<\/a> in June that he drew inspiration from James Woods in\u00a0Casino when preparing for his role as Antinous.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it\u2019d be quite nice to see it in Ithaca. And he\u2019s like a little sleazy,\u201d The Batman actor said. \u201cI kept saying at my costume fitting, I was like, \u2018I really want to have\u00a0leopard underpants.\u2019 I want to have it just coming out of my skirt, a little sparkly fur.\u201d<\/p>\n
