{"id":787561,"date":"2026-07-08T04:54:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T04:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/787561\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T04:54:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T04:54:17","slug":"600-hours-later-hopes-first-blood-trail-is-open-for-year-two","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/787561\/","title":{"rendered":"600 hours later: Hope&#8217;s First Blood trail is open for year two"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first cut may be the deepest but, when it came to getting <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/mtb\/from-rambo-to-remy-first-blood-trail-blows-up-after-metaillers-video\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hope\u2019s Frist Blood trail<\/a> open for its sophomore season, the second cut was pretty deep, too.<\/p>\n<p>After some heavy winter storms and unlucky locations for downed trees, the massive new destination trail was in rough shape. Bridges needed to be rebuild. Crucial features were washed out by some wild storms. All told, Fraser Valley Mountain Biking Association (FVMBA) trail builders and volunteers put 600 hours into getting First Blood open for a second year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you to Mike Prawdzik, local volunteers and our trail crew for all of the work they put into the re-opening of this iconic trail,\u201d FVMBA shared. \u201cFor context, the trail officially opened in June 2025. This winter, it got hit by multiple storms requiring trees to be removed, wood features to be rebuild and lots of dirt moved. Thank you to Advantage Hope and Lower Cascade Community Forest for supporting this project and providing us with the funding to keep it open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re in the area, or might be passing through, this new epic absolutely looks like it\u2019s worth adding a day to your trip for. Or make it the whole reason to travel.
